Foyer Notre Dame House

NISA has been working closely with Foyer Notre
Dame for several years by providing quilts made by our quilters. The
quilts are distributed to the homeless, by outreach workers from Foyer Notre
Dame, during the cold winter months to families in crisis.
Good Food Box
 Two members of NISA act as representatives on the Good Food Box Committee and provide a liaison with our members who are interested in the project. Our representatives also update that committee on our ongoing projects, like our Community Garden and our Food is Mood program.
Independent Living Resource Centre
This year, we have developed a
partnership with the Independent Living Resource Centre to cross-promote
programs to the benefit of both member organizations.
La Galerie du Nouvel-Ontario (GNO)
One of our artists, Larson, recently had work
displayed at GNO in 2010. Another artist, Jessica Bortnak, also actively participates in the events and exhibitions of the GNO.

Our current Executive Director teaches courses
on gender and health at the university. We have also worked with professors in
the Department of English to host creative writing workshops. Dr. Phyllis
Montgomery, from the Department of Nursing co-produced a photo collage
presentation and life writing project on Women and Serious Mental Illness,
which was presented to front-line mental health and addictions workers in 2010.
Laurentian University, Master of Arts in Humanities Program

For the past 2 years, we have been able to host three
placement students, who have worked with our magazine editor. The current project
for 2011 is to revisit back issues of Open Minds Quarterly in order to put
together an anthology of writing from our published work.
Myths and Mirrors
We have been approached by this partner, who
interviewed our Executive Director in 2010 about our various programs --
arts-related ones especially -- for a feasibility study they are undertaking
for their organization.
N'Swakamok Native Friendship Centre

This partner has provided guidance and
assistance with our Food Is Mood program, in the form of hands-on workshops and
stories and recipes for our forthcoming cookbook.
NEON (Northeast Ontario Consumer/Survivor Network)
This organization provides support to
Consumer/Survivor Initiatives in Northern Ontario. Our technician also provides
technical support to this nonprofit group free of charge. One of our
Board members is also a Board member of this organization.
Northern Flavours
 One of our artists, Ray Laporte, held an art show at this location in 2010.
Ontario Common Assessment of Need (OCAN)
Our organization has partnered with the Northeast Local Health Integration Network (NELHIN) to provide the Ontario Common Assessment of Need in order to assess the needs of our community. In this respect, we are able to discuss our members' needs within our artistic programs, as well as those within the larger organization. Our Executive Director also sits on the local and district planning table for OCAN.


NISA has invited ODSP to provide informational sessions to our membership about their rights and benefits under the program. These sessions are also open to the community.
Ontario March of Dimes Canada
 Nisa works closely with the Ontario March of Dimes by providing a milieu that fosters occupational skill development for members.
CONSUMER/SURVIVOR INITIATIVES: IMPACT, OUTCOMES & EFFECTIVENESS Other Consumer/Survivor Initiatives (CSIs) in the North. We provide technical support and consultation to other consumer groups across Northern Ontario. We are also in contact with tow CSIs in the north concerning our Food is Mood program, where they have contributed creative and personal stories of food and mood for our cookbook publication.
St. Charles College
 This past year, our
artists participated in the Mistletoe Craft Show at St. Charles College.
Sudbury Action Centre for Youths (SACY)

This partner is currently working with us to
provide peer outreach within their Harm Reduction program. Our plan includes
art activities as well as general peer support.
Sudbury Craft and Arts Foundation

We have participated in SCARF’s Art Tour every year from 2005 to 2010.
Sudbury Manitoulin Children's Foundation
 We participate in the annual fundraiser,
Charity Chairs Auction, where a number of our artists paint Muskoka chairs,
which are then auctioned off to raise funds for the organization.
Sudbury Pride
 Our Executive Director was on the 2008, 2009
and 2010 planning committee for the annual event. Our artists have participated
in the yearly Art Show during this week of festivities.
Sudbury & District Health Unit

This partner works with us on our Food Is Mood
program, providing Community Food Advisors to assist us with workshops and meal
preparation. They are also assisting with our forthcoming cookbook, providing
recipes, nutritional data and stories around eating well for mental health.
Health Sciences North
 This partner works with us on our Food Is Mood
program, providing Community Food Advisors to assist us with workshops and meal
preparation. They are also assisting with our forthcoming cookbook, providing
recipes, nutritional data and stories around eating well for mental health.
Sudbury Theatre Center (STC)
 The STC was the host of NISA's art exhibitions in 2005 and an exhibit in March 2007.
Sudbury Mental Health and Addictions
 Our Executive Director attends meetings of this Addictions and Mental Health Community Committee to share information and promote activities of NISA.
Fromagerie Elgin
One of our artists, Larson, had work displayed
at the Fromagerie Elgin in 2010 with much success. Fromagerie Elgin also hosted NISA's Heart Show in 2012.
L'Arche Sudbury

We have worked with this organization for many years, and one of our Board members is a L'Arche staff member. NISA has also sponsored placement workers, who provide cleaning and maintenance on site.
Laughing Buddha
In May 2011, the Laughing Buddha showcased the artwork of ten NISA artists. This exposition commenced during Mental Health Awareness Week and continued for a
three-month duration. This show was in collaboration with the Art Gallery of Sudbury.
The Tree of Life
 One of our artists, Meredith McMaster, held
an art show at this location in 2009.
Woman Abuse Screening Project
Our Executive Director is on the working
group for this project as a NISA representative. Our organization has also
donated artwork to be used as auction items or door prizes for events held by
this group.
